Thread lift/Silhouette – Face

Genetics, ageing, illness and weight loss can result in sagging cheeks and jowls. The face may also be lined with wrinkles and make a person seem drawn, tired looking and older than they are. Face thread silhouette lift provides a non-invasive resolution for mild facial sagging to provide men and women with a more youthful, toned complexion.

What is Face Thread Silhouette Lift?

Face thread silhouette lift is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses durable threads to lift and reposition facial tissues, thus tightening skin, removing wrinkles and giving a younger looking appearance. The technique rejuvenates and freshens the face naturally without the need for invasive surgery. Face thread silhouette lift procedures are sometimes referred to as the natural face lift.

Treatment Process

Face thread silhouette lift procedures start with an initial consultation, in which the consultant discusses why the patient wants to have treatment, their medical history, any prior operations they have had and their suitability for the procedure. All risks, benefits and prices are covered so that the person understands what is involved in the treatment process and is able to provide informed consent if they wish to proceed.

The procedure is provided through an out-patient or in-clinic facility under local anaesthetic without the need for a hospital stay. Tiny incisions are made in the scalp or hairline to insert the cones and threads, which are non-dissolving sutures. The threads fix to the scalp tissue and are then gently pulled to reposition the facial tissues and muscles for toned and firmer looking skin.

Once the facial tissues are in place the incisions are fastened with dissolving sutures. The procedure takes approximately 45 minutes but may be longer if other treatments are required. Scarring is minimal or hidden beneath the hair of the scalp, and a dressing may be placed over the treatment site to encourage healing. Patients return home the same day once the procedure is complete.

Recovery Time

Patients soon recover from the procedure and return to normal activity within a week. However, it is recommended that strenuous activity be avoided for at least 2 weeks. It is best not to submerge the face in water during this time though light cleansing is acceptable. The skin should recover within 10 days. The patient will be provided with aftercare advice for the weeks ahead.

Potential Risks

Risks may include infection, bleeding or scarring, but such risks are substantially lower than with invasive surgery. The cone thread technique is designed to minimise any blemishes and the physician is trained to reduce the risk of complication. The sutures remain in place because they are anchored by scalp fibrous tissues, while the cones dissolve and are absorbed over time. Some swelling and bruising may result but this soon fades within a week. Any concerns should be addressed to the consultant.

Results of Thread lift/Silhouette – Face

Outcomes that patients experience are having a rejuvenated appearance which is free of wrinkles and sagging skin. The facial appearance is enhanced and refreshed to give a greater sense of confidence and happiness. The results are expected to last for 4 to 5 years but other factors may cause the skin to lose elasticity over time.

Ageing, sun-damage, stress, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can change skin quality. The consultant may periodically monitor this and recommend treatment when needed. Sometimes additional face thread silhouette lift procedures are required.

The face thread silhouette lift procedure is quite easily combined with other treatments, such as neck lifts, brow lifts, muscle relaxants and derma fillers, or may be renewed if required. Thread silhouette lift is even used in buttock lifts so that individuals may have a full face or body makeover as desired.
